Awards Overview

The Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc has an active awards program for its membership. The purpose of the awards program is to recognize the achievements of an individual, a club or group of clubs which further the goals and objectives of The Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc, the South Atlantic Region and National Garden Clubs, Inc. GCNC recognizes over 100 sponsored awards in 26 categories.

What better way to celebrate the achievements of an outstanding project than by winning an award! What better way to call attention to the great work your garden club is doing in the neighborhood, city or state than by winning an award! AND, an award winning club will attract new members!

The GCNC Second Vice-President serves as the State Awards Chairman, and as chairman, will coordinate the entire program, as well as plan and present the awards at a ceremony at our Annual Meeting. The Chairman is responsible for submitting GCNC winners to SAR and NGC for additional competition.

The Awards Year is for activities done from January 1 through December 31. Submittals for awards are sent to the various State Awards Category Chairmen, and judging begins with the application submittal deadline of November 1 for Yearbooks or December 1 for all other awards. The Category Chairman will select the First, Second and Third place winners for each award in their category.

First Place winners receive either a Scroll or Cash award. Cash awards are made possible by donations from sponsors for each award. Sponsorships are made to specific awards by individuals, clubs, councils, or other groups, and their generosity allows us to make our award program more competitive.

So, pick one or several … the awards program has a number of categories from which to choose, not only for North Carolina but for the South Atlantic Region, and for National Garden Club. So, pick one today, complete the work and send in the application. Winning awards is fun for everyone.
